selling crafting rubber stamps

Hi I wonder if anyone can help me please. I have a large amount of brand new rubber stamps for card making and stamping etc (all brand new) that my mum was buying to use herself. Unfortunately she took ill and passed away before she could use a lot of them. Dad is trying to sell them to free up some space and gain a little cash. However, after doing two craft fairs with little success I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on the best way to sell them? There is not quite enough stock to do a massive trade fair, but church craft fairs are not really the place to sell either!

Any ideas would be great.
Thanks

neither I nor Dad are users of ebay! (bit hopeless at it!!) After doing a couple of small church craft fairs with a little success it was quite fun. Just not quite found the right kind of fair to sell at. The two fairs we have done have been selling craft goods already made, rather than the tools to make things. Just need to find the right audience, but cant think how.
Perhaps ebay is the way forward... thanks emslovesmickey :)

    I've been Money Tipped!
What about etsy? That's specifically for crafts, you'll reach a more focused audience.
  • hmmm - have you got any craft minded friends that you could gift them to? Or perhaps any places (hospitals etc) nearby that accept that kind of thing? If you are just looking to get rid of them not necessarily to sell them i mean.

Have you tried going to a local independent craft shop and asking them to make an offer?

okay hunni I am a crafter! I am very sorry she's gone, the hole will be big for a while, xx
What stamps are you looking to get rid of? and how much are you charging?
Sorry for crafters those 2 points are very important! its not wether they are new or used, as used go for about the same as new. You wont shift them at craft fairs, as thats where crafters sell their makes, and the people who go to craft fairs dont really want to make their own.
my advice, make a full and complete list of ALL the crafty goodies you need to shift, card, papers, kits, cds, dies, equipment, ink pads, pens, paints, micas, etc,
you ideally need to sort by make, eg Lili of the Valley, Crafters companion, MCs Flowersoft etc where possible, and it does depend on how much of a crafter your Mum was? Admittedly I am a sample maker for a craft company, but I have about £10,000 worth of gear for crafting, but like all crafters we are always on the look out for anything to fill in the gaps.
People wont buy if they dont know what there is, and bundles of assorted dont really sell well, but if you can sort by company then thats a different matter entirely.
But dont expect too much for them either, crafting is a very expensive hobby, and unless we can justify spending £20 on Flowersoft assorted stamps, we wont spend it. There is so much turn over in craft that Crafters are always looking for the next new thing as it were.
Make a full list, sort by manufacturer where possible, and then group them, Aim at 30p per stamp (@1 inch by 2 inch roughly,) smaller charge less, bigger charge more, photo them and then best bet is to put them on Facebook! Dont forget to add the cost of posting them! So a set of 20 flowersoft stamps would be up for @£6.00, not a lot, but it would move, which is the aim here I take it?
I say 30 per stamp as stamp prices have come right down recently, and you want to shift them, thats probably the best way to do it, for equipment, then half the original price of the item is a good guide. Ink pads might not shift depends on how old they are, and how much they have been used.
Although your mum may have spent quite some money on this I am afraid you wont get much back for it.
The thing is with crafters, and I hope I dont offend anyone here, but sometimes, we can be like someone at a jumble sale, low enough we'll jump at it, not low enough we will walk away or haggle, and I get the feeling that its not something you want to drag out?
But do include the P&P in the price...20 Flowersoft assorted plus P&P you're looking at @£9/10 total.
