in Cutting tax
Hi,

I am new on here.
Basically did hubby's short tax return online Monday morning. It's now showing as bank repayment pending

Does anyone know what this means? I'm hoping it's not been selected for random spot checks. It happened last year and ended up taking over 8wks for him to be refunded.

We normally send via post but got told online was a lot quicker. I also noticed the online system is a day behind so is showing update from yesterday.

    Sometimes it depends on the amount: I got a £15 refund within a few days, but if it is a large sum they may do 'security checks'.

    My refund is usually £300-400 and I typically get that paid in a few days. I'm sure that there must be a level at which alarm bells go off at HMRC Towers and your claim gets checked manually.
