Notice of seizure on car

Hi there. Last week a high court bailiff popped around over a debt in my name run up after my business collapsed. It's the first I heard of it and no notice was issued. I had to move about rather a lot due to actions of my deranged business partner. Anyway, I explained that although my name is on the V5 the car was brought and paid for by my mother who is the owner. It's worth perhaps a 6th of the debt in question that's all. The bailiff refused to believe me and forced me to pay £100. He issued a notice of seizure. My mother has since taken the car back and won't let me have it! Am I in trouble here? Any feedback will help please. I have help from the guys at Step Change who are putting a plan together for me but in meantime am I to be carted off to jail? Thanks.
