Which? mortgage advisers

Hi,
New to these forums and new to the world of mortgages (FTB) and looking to buy on my own so figured a mortgage adviser/ broker would be a good way to go.
Looking at a few, countrywide came to my attention but I've seen some very negative comments on here which makes me a bit nervous about them.
Found Which? mortgage advisers (part of the Which? advice group thing). They charge a fee but seem quite good on face value. Just wondering if anyone has any experience of them they'd be willing to share.
Are they any good, worth the money, or avoid at all costs?

Avoid coutrywide and any brokers who are attached to an estate agents! - you can never be 100% theyre working in your best interests.
Which tend to get positive reviews on this site from what i have read. I am currently using both, Which? as a mortgage adviser/co-coordinator and Countrywide for the legals.
Which? I could recomend, they are clear on fee's search the market ect ect I regularly keep in contact with them via email to check on updates.
Countrywide, I have no problems with as of yet, should I be expecting any?
Nationwide for the lender, who are at best a shambles. Offer excepted in July and we still haven't had a contract yet. There has been multiple errors on the valuation report which they take 2/3 weeks revising and also a lack of communication.0 -
Thanks for the replies. I didn't look at a local broker because i live in london at the moment but am buying in yorkshire - so thought it would be easier to go with someone that I can deal with over the phone and email that i could get some reviews of before signig up.
I went with Which in the end, they have been absolutly brilliant, or the guy I've been taking to has at least.
Fast, open, answers all my silly FTB questions. Nice and clear on whats needed and the details, responding to emails quickly and calling me regularly with up dates. Mine hasn't been teh simplest of cases, but on thursday 14th Nov i had my first chat with them about their services and today Tuesday 19th I have a mortgage offer (fully accepted and all documents supplied for ID, address, deposit everything), valuation booked and everything sorted and the advisor was on holiday yesterday.
I can see what people say about a good advisor being worth their weight in gold. Took so much stress away from me (which as i'm in the bidding process on a repo is much needed) and have got me a good mortgage for a FTB single applicant with 10% deposit and carrying some dept.0 -

Not quite there. Perhaps you mean an Agreement in Principle rather than an actual mortgage offer? Very unlikely a lender will offer a mortgage before the valuation is conducted.0 -
How can Which? impartially assess mortgages when they have their fingers in the pie?0
