Having difficulty getting a mortgage

I have owned a property with my husband for 9 years with the assistance if a key worker equity loan. We accumulated debts prior to and during this time which escalated and we entered into a debt management plan with step change, we have now paid off all if our debt as of April 2013 and were paying £850 per month for this until it was paid, we have certainly learned our lesson regarding debt but cannot seem to get a mortgage even though we have never missed a payment on our current mortgage, does anyone have any advice?

Debt management plans are very difficult to place.

How much is the purchase price and how much are you hoping to borrow?
    How much are your incomes?

  • Much more information (including the items listed by ACG) needed to express any opinion - but depending upon the whole credit history/activity it may be do-able.

Get your reports in front of an experienced broker and they will tell you what the state of play is - DO NOT meander around the high street lenders seeing if they will help (they won't and may further harm your credit history with unnecessary searches)
