is airfryer healthier than normal fry?

I am not a real expert and am considering buying a Philips AirFryer Healthier Oil-Free Fryer.

But is this thing really heather than oil fry?

Somehow I thought fry is bad no matter with oil or not.

I tried to google this, but didn't find much information.

Can someone help?

Many Thanks

How bad frying is rather depends on the oil. Most oild break down at high temp and turn into trans fats (not good) Coconut oild is very good for you and doesnt break down in the same way (good) all cooking destroys some of the goodness (not so good) Best to have raw or light cooked food with an oil rich in omega 3 like hemp oil.

Yes, now I remember seeing it, I think they wanted an unfair competitive advantage over the actifry, while they work very similarly, with small amounts of oil.
    Silly.

You are not actually answer the question, it's about two very specific products in comparison to conventional deep fat fryers, don't think the OP was after a lecture about the evils of frying :D
Well in that case the air fry is the evil one as it deprives people of the various benefits of oils and fats some oils are essential to health and vitamins ADE &K are fat soluble. although there are other arguments. Air fry tastes crap proper fry tastes much better

I have a tefal actifry & I love it. I bought my daughter one too, as they're so great she wanted one too.
She has a tiny kitchen & things have to be brilliant for her to give them kitchen space.
They are the best tasting low fat chips or roasties you can get.

Are you saying it's healthier than the airFryer, or oil frying?

There is nothing particularly unhealthy about a normal fry, so long as you keep the amounts involved in sensible proportion to non-fried foods in the rest of your diet. Then there is the matter of just what you are frying - Many types of pre-processed foods (meat or veg) will still be unhealthy garbage no matter how you cook them.

And whilst an air fryer may use less fat, it relies on the Mallard Effect to work and some of the compounds produced in the food as a result of this are potentially very unhealthy indeed.

Air fryer or not, getting your diet into sensible proportion overall will be the most healthy solution.

Of course it is. 1 tablespoon of oil will do chips for three. Thats a teaspoon of oil per decent sized portion of chips.

You actually have no idea how much oil the airfryer use, do you? :D
