A Christmas tip if you are worse off financially than your relatives and friends

.... and you don't want to lose face

Tell everyone you want money towards a special trip or something, then don't go, but use that money to buy their presents with .

Say later what a great time you had on your day out ( which you did not actually go on)

I'd rather lose face than do that :(

I know my family and friends would be gutted if they thought I'd used the money they had given me to buy them a present that they probably don't want or need.

Each to their own though :)

How would that work as surely they would give you the money at Christmas after you would need to buy their presents? :o

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

So rather than tell your family that you're a a little skint, or put some more time and effort into finding something nice for them on a budget, then you would rather blatantly lie to their face and basically take money from them on false pretenses? What a close family you must have! :(
  • I'd rather not take their money to buy their own gifts, it just doesn't sit right with me! Im skint this year but I've got craft stuff leftover from last year I'd rather make do and mend but each to their own!

  • Hi,

I see OP's signature states he is a mortgage advisor.

House sales must be slow in Cambridgeshire.
