Could make them yourself without the e's in. They are very quick to make it's just getting them flat enough I have 'issues' with. Only thing is they don't last as long (the ones pre packed usually have a long shelf life thanks to the e's in them) but you can usually freeze them fine. One day I might be more organised...........

Not every e-number is bad ... Vitamin C, which is commonly added to bread products as a preservative and improver, is an e number, as are the other vitamins and minerals that are added to food0

These things have an exraordinary amount of ingredients in them. The Old El Paso ones have hydrogenated vegetable oil in too.
Here's a recipe from THe More With Less Cookbook with 4 ingredients one of which is water
Makes 8-11
mix in a bowl
2 cups (about 9oz) of plain flour
1 tsp of salt
rub in until like fine breadcrumbs
2oz lard/marge/butter
add, gradually
4 fl oz luke warm water
Mix with a fork to form a stiff dough.
Knead really well until smooth and the surface has little air bubbles.
Put in the fridge 4-24 hours to make it easier to roll (grease the ball of dough first with a bit of oil). Let it get to room temp before rolling.
Divide into 8 or 11 balls depending whether you want small or large tortillas.
Roll as thin as you can on a floured surface.
Cook on a very hot, ungreased griddle or non-stick frying pan. Cook until spotted with brown marks -should only take 20 secs. Turn and cook other side.
You can freeze them or use immediately.
Haven't tried this yet, but the recipes in this book are reliable.0 -
You could buy some flour and make your own torts. That way you'll know what's in them.
