I could be wrong, but if you are working less than 24 hours (as a couple) you are not eligable to WORKING tax credits, but you are entitled to child tax credits. You can also go to your council as you may get a reduction in your council tax. unfortunatly. This is where the more than 16 hours for benefits / certain amount of money before they stop all benefits, and the minimum 24 hours a week rule for working tax credits all goes wrong. If you were claiming for both of you on income based JSA, you can possibly still cliaim some benefits as you are working less than 24 hours. If you are claiming for just one of you (so the £71 aweek) it's more than 16 hours and you are out, but if it's a joint claim, it's £112 or something a week, and you have to be working more than 24 hours before you have to sign off. you may well not get any more money, but you could get other help. Contact your citizens advice.
Huge congrats on the job though!0
