Hi, I'm so happy that I can now join this board.

A little about me: I'm 25, living with my partner, our 4 year old son and our 7 week old daughter. We have spent the last 4.5 years renting due to OH's past credit faux pas. Sitting with the calculator now and just worked out that we have paid the best part of £27,000 off of someone else's mortgage .

Anyway, we applied via the Scottish Government's Link scheme (shared equity) and are now the proud owners of our own little house. We managed to get an incredible deal and should never have to move again (fingers crossed, just buying was stressful enough, I do not want to even contemplate how stressful selling and buying would be!)

So we moved in on the 1st of November (very stressful, we were given the keys at 11:15am and the previous owners were still there at 2:30pm  AND they left the house manky) First mortgage payment was taken on the 1st.

At the moment we have a £90,000 mortgage (£60,000 on the shared equity deal) so £150,000 in total. My aim is to overpay as much as possible on the £90,000 so that we can remortgage in 2 years when the fix is up and take on a higher percentage.

So this diary is to keep me on track. I have grand ideas on how to do this however in reality we need some new furniture, I've just bought a new washing machine, babies aren't cheap and I'm currently on maternity leave. I'm also a student studying Legal Services with an aim to study for my LLB so I need to stay focused!

So... I have transferred £9.10 into my savings account with an aim to pay it to the mortgage when it hits £50 and to keep doing that. Luckily my college pays me £100 every 4 weeks towards my mortgage so this will be transferred over too. I've also applied for a Tesco clubcard, 0% for 16 months but in reality I want it for the clubcard points

Now to toddle off and find out if I can pay Skipton online...

Well it would appear that you can't pay Skipton online...that's a pain!

Still waiting on the local council contacting me about my council tax. I sent an eform as I couldn't get through on the phone. Council Tax is rising from £86pm to £156pm however with my 25% student discount it will come down to £117pm. Not too bad and an additional £39 that I can put in the overpayment fund.

Finally got through to my energy supplier. Account was in credit by £130 and they closed the account down so the cheque is in the post. Got them to take over the supply at my new house and the direct debit is going to rise from £88 to £122 (2 bed to 4 bed) however that is a 2 year fix and will reduce dramatically when i submit readings (hopefully) I get club card points through them too.

Still waiting to hear from Tesco about my credit card application - I want the extra club card points (obsessed? moi? :rotfl:) Set up a new Sky account and getting £75 in Tesco vouchers too (believe or not I don't particularly like shopping in Tesco)

Now going around the house to see how I can increase the energy efficiency. The kitchen and bathroom have spots, will need to change those for energy savers. Got a new washing machine, the one left behind made the clothes dirtier than when they went in. A+++ in energy efficiency so hopefully that reduces the bill a bit.

Need to get the house organized and sell the stuff that I don't want/need. Wonder if I can sell the old washing machine for scrap?

You can transfer money to skipton online as i have a mortgage with them too.

Set them up as a payee on your online banking with your mortgage roll no as the reference.
