Twitter/FB question

Hi all,

I'm a newbie and was wondering if some of you would be able to answer a question for me if you have time. I have been comping for about a week now and during that time i've entered a number of TW and FB comps by liking and sharing their pages/posts etc. I was just wondering how successful people have been in these comps. Would they really just pick my name out after one like/share or would I have had to be a member of their page for a while and have commented before to be in with a chance?

Also, is it likely that if I did win any comps through TW or FB that they would tag me on their page or do I have to check each page when the comps have ended to check if i've won or not?

Thanks in advance :)

I really do not believe twitter is random. As much as you want it to be, unless it actually states random and they have T+C it is more likely to be someone who has commented to them. I have lots of luck on twitter, the best wins in my sig have all come from twitter this year. But, I know plenty of people who have never won

The same with FB l+S competitions.

I believe the ones run with apps are random, but, I think winners can be 'vetted' and the suitability of the prizes too. As in a go pro for your bike, is more likely to go to someone with a bike in their profile picture. I rarely do FB now, there are too many people, cheats and frauds taking prizes so I am moving away to web comps.

You will be tagged on twitter, but a lot of the time on FB you need to check the pages, but if you join a comp tagging page you might find your wins in their.

I hope this helps and answers your questions.

  • Thank you nelie for your reply. I think I'm going to stay away from tw and fb comps for a while and concentrate my efforts on other ones.

I appreciate your reply. You've had some fab wins btw so well done to you

I used to think that L&S comps were a waste of time (still did them though as it's easy to do.lol.) and I was going to stop but then I won two prizes from L&S comps in two days so that's spurred me to carry on. :D

I hardly ever win Twitter comps.

I do twitter comps sporadically because they always seen to go to the same people that retweet (it seems like) hundreds of times, saying that I won my third ever twitter comp (in 8 months!) today.

I would suggest perhaps looking at how many people have retweeted, I don't usually bother (unless it's something really amazing) if there are more than around 700 retweets.

Good luck Tooty-Frooty and happy comping!
