Over past few months we have noticed some of our mail going lost. This is including a DVD rental and some magazines, and bank statements. I have tried telling royal mail via email and phone - nothing seems to have happened no one has even bothered to contact us. We have even told our postie.
Any suggestions on what i should do? Who can i can contact? is there a direct helpline for royal mail?
thanks

I think you need to kick-up on a prolonged basis to get feedback and action. When you next call; ask who you can complain to about the lack of action.
You can even start mailing your self packages to see how many you get back: number them covertly, keep a record of the date posted, and make them feel 'interesting' to potential theives.0 -
I feel for you, I really do.
A few years ago a load of our mail went missing (Including cheques, money etc people sent for our anniversary). Some was even sent by "recorded" methods.
Enquired at the local sorting office and they admitted a member of staff had been sacked for theft!
The local Police said that they were very aware of the thefts but it was an internal Royal Mail matter.
Made an official approach to the RM for compensation and they repeatedly categorically denied that there were ANY occurences of theft, (despite it being confirmed by the Police and a RM employee). They even stated some of the lost mail had been signed for so as far as they were concerned they'd been correctly delivered. To this day they have been unable/unwilling to produce any signatures or names.
Neighbours also lost mail, complained and got similar replies!
Opened envelopes/packages were later found dumped in a local river.
The RM subsequently sent a book of 12 first class stamps by way of a goodwill gesture, but still denied ANY responsibility..!
Basically they will use every method in the book to wriggle out of their responsibilities.
Edit: If/when they go bust they have only themselves to blame!0 -
I had every sympathy for the Royal Mail but it is quickly turning to antagonism. Its customer service is abysmal. In recent months I have had five letters either not delivered or received, most of which were financial, the delays costing me lost interest. The compensation is ridiculous-to the value of a few first class stamps-if you can get it!!The escape clause is failure to produce a certificate of posting-how many customers complete that for ordinary letters? And the knock on effect on post office queues? The real and only test of customer service is how a company deals with complaints. And the consumer must complain, persevere, refuse to accept threats, know to whom you can complain, ask for compensation and take your custom elsewhere. If you dont do the latter, your effort is wasted.0

I very often have post go missing. It has taken a full 8 days for some court papers to get to us which have arrived too late and have left a mess for me to sort out. These papers were posted int he same town so should have only taken a max of 2 days. I should be grateful really that i actually got them, I'm surprised that they go missing like all the other mail that does.0

We have had several items of mail go missing these last 2 months including cheques, mobile memory card, mobile phone, gift vouchers etc. always the good stuff, all our bills have arrived:mad: Like you we have contacted RM and got nowhere, one recorded message even said "we are experiencing a high volume of cales plse phone tomorrow"
RM used to have their own Investigation Bureau (inhouse) not sure if they still do  It's so annoying waiting around for things that never arrive, especially when RM don't want to know- the whole system needs a shake up:mad:Panda on My Shoulder
If you can make it cheaper do so. If it's not reduced, in Primark, off ebay or free I can't have it :rotfl:0 -
If it is convenient for you (might be located miles away) you could also call in at your local sorting office and ask to speak to a manager about the missing mail.0
