New Sofa

Hey guys,

Can anyone recommend a good retailer? I was thinking of the obvious, DFS, but know people who can tell some horror stories regarding delivery scale and lack of customer service....any suggestions is welcome even if you had a good experience with DFS should be good to hear...

thanks in advance folks...

ps. in the process of buying my very first house, exciting but expensive times ahead! :)

I'm going to look SCS and Harveys for something, Next make some pretty strong stuff too.

We used ScS about 3 years ago and they seemed ok I guess.

Looking back I think we was mislead in to believing delivery was free and they tried sneaking some insurance product in the contract which we had to have removed - so be very careful.
But otherwise delivery was on time and the sofas wasn't too bad... we still have one of them now (other one was too big to fit in our last house) - other than it needing re-plumping it's actually pretty good.

If I was you though i'd avoid Ikea

Both my sofas are from DFS, no problems at all, delivered on time (one was actually early) and no other issues. You only tend to hear the horror stories on here and in the press, people don't tend to post good experiences unless asked.

I agree with that, you just read bad stuff because no one post anything unless there is a problem...
  • If you're a close drive to South Wales I can recommend Sofa Sofa:
    http://www.sofasofa.co.uk/

All made in the UK. The only downside is their only showroom is in Crumlin, Newport.
  • If you live in the north west Lawtons in Birkenhead is worth a look - they sell stuff from M&S, Next, John Lewis ect all reduced because of returns/cancelled orders

I was looking on Ebay for my daughter last night who is in the process of moving into her first place. There are several business sellers who have SCS/DFS and i think NEXT sofas, all new and i presume last seasons etc. Some very nice sofas at very nice prices, maybe worth a peek?

Any reason? I ordered mine from IKEA and more than happy. Delivery was delayed for a week, but as compensation they refunded £100 off a £800 sofa, which more than made up for the inconvenience.
