What happens now?

As a FTB I really am truly clueless about the buying process so this is probably a really stupid question!

The solicitor has our mortgage instructions from the back and has had the contract and title deeds for the property for about two weeks now.

Valuation has come back ok and my OH and I have handed in forms for life insurance to the bank.

So what happens next? Is this the longest part now, waiting on the solicitor?

Thanks in advance!

Solicitor will make searches on the property and request information from the vendors. You will receive copies of this information to digest. Anything of significance the solicitor will highlight to you. However do read closely and request further clarification if necessary. As it's down to you whether to purchase the property or not.

Thanks Thrugelmir. I've just received an email asking to make an appointment to sign the contract and mortgage deeds. Just a pity my OH isn't back from work until 22nd November!!!

    LIFE INSURANCE ?
Not taken out with the bank by any chance? You may get the same cover with the same company if you go direct! Try and get LEVEL term cover

TBH Dimbo, the life insurance really confused me but the quote did come in cheaper than ones on Compare the Market etc, perhaps I'm looking wrong? OH has a fairly high risk job (he's a linesman) and smokes as well so I imagine this will push the premium up no matter where we go.

This website is about MONEYSAVING so I look at everything.
Went to my Lender a few years ago and the very nice SALESLADY gave me details about the cover they offered at £36 a month for joint cover over 25 years at our ages!
Now I went online with cavendish direct ( Who Martin has talked about in the past) and the same cover was £24 a month.
Now £12 a month is not alot!
BUT £12X12X25= £3600 and you would save even more if you paid that amount OFF the mortgage every month!
I do not work for Cavendish and we took level term ie Cover stays the same for the full 25 years but Life assurance is just that and I hope we never CLAIM!!
