Akinika: Debt recovery?

Hey there,
Er, don't know where to start really. I got a letter today from Akinika relating to a PayPal fee where someone had successfully challenged a purchase and won - I didn't even know the case was going on as it's on a PayPal specific email address and had no time to respond so, they kept my MacBook that was apparently damaged and for almost £1000 back. Totally surreal.
Anyway, I'm not in the UK so in this regard, how do I approach Akinika? I contacted PayPal and it's gone beyond the point they're willing to discuss anything with me and I'd rather not be in PayPal's bad books.
What do I do?

Weirdly today I got a letter from these people. Not addressed to anyone at this house by name, but to a name of a limited company which was dissolved about 3 years ago - also none of the directors of that company are linked to this house - all up in London area - and this house has never had a link to the company (eg: been a registered office or something)
I am going to call them monday and find out how the hell this property was ever linked to this now departed company.Money saving:

Its a diesel. 50mpg - laugh at all the petrols
Its a tuned 260bhp diesel - laugh at them in the rearview mirror as they vanish
