Currys Gift Cards

Hello, excuse me if I have put this in the wrong place, I'm new here!
I have a problem with Currys Gift Cards. My son asked for Currys vouchers for his birthday, as he thought he might buy a TV. However he has now decided upon the new Playstation4, which comes out later this month. He managed to get £300 in 7 gift cards, which he has now given to me and asked me to put them towards the PS4 with me paying the rest, for Christmas.
Firstly I registered online, hoping I would be able to register them all on there (like Amazon), but no, so I phoned up to check I would be able to key in multiple vouchers on checkout - to be told they don't accept GVs online.

So... today I went in to my local Currys and pre-ordered the PS4, giving a deposit of £20 using one of the cards. However, I was then told that they can only accept 3 cards per transaction (and only 2, if the balance is being paid by credit card or debit card)!!!

So my poor son has been saving these, and now can't put them towards what he wants. And the largest amount I can put towards it is £200 (plus cash) if I can use 3 cards, or £150 if they count the deposit card as one of my 3. Grrr!

It says nothing about his on the T&C on the cards - and nothing on Currys website. I phoned them again, and the woman said it is true - only 3 cards per transaction. Is this actually legal, does anyone know?

She has emailed my local store, to ask if there is any way they can help with this. They have 24 hours to respond to me and I haven't heard back yet.

Has this happened to anyone on here, and if so, how did they get round it.

Thanks for your help (and if I am in the wrong place, can someone move me please??) :)

  • No one has replied to this, and I have solved the problem, but I thought I'd post to explain how, in case anyone else is told the same thing.

The store manager didn't contact me, so I went back in to the store prepared for an argument. An assistant, not the manager, listened to my tale of woe, then said it wasn't a problem!

He transferred all the money amounts from each card on to one of them, just like that! He said the system doesn't like more than 3 cards, but this is the way round it. So why did the other assistant tell me there was no alternative, and why didn't Telephone Customer Services know this either?? All that stress for nothing.

So thanks to Alex, my hero, I am now stress-free. :j

Just hope the PS4 arrives before Christmas now!

Ahhh, that'll be the wonderful Curry's staff! Glad you got it sorted, and thanks for reporting back :)
