Losing my mojo :(

You need to get your DH a microwave rice cooker - it is a plastic container with vented lid that has a sort of colander inside. Put a cup of rice in, wash it under running water, pour boiling water over it to cover and a bit extra and pop into the microwave for 8 minutes and out comes perfectly cooked rice. No hassle and great rice.
You can use it to cook pasta too ......0 -
ohh, never heard of one of them, Minihauk. I shall look out for one tomorrow when I'm in town0

This is the one we use, we also cook our vegetables in it as well and they come out lovely. (I am a hopeless cooker of rice and even I can make it look good with this!) :rotfl:

My rice/veg microwave streamer doesn't have clips to hold the lid on but it's great for potatoes too
Thanks also for the tip of freezing pasta bakePlease forgive the badly spelt alias... I am a long time contributor who needed to reclaim anonymity for health/job related posts.0 -
Has OH discovered couscous yet? made in exactly the same way as a pot noodle! you can get delicious flavoured ones and they are much healthier than those pots of chemicals! with one of your lovingly prepared casseroles or curries these would be ideal!0

you can get rice/veg bags that go into the microwave for approx. 2 minutes. Cant get any quicker than that. 4 bags for a pound in some supermarkets.
I bulk cook and freeze into plastic containers so that hubby can reheat in microwave if he is eating out of sync with me.
Soups, stews, casseroles etc
Use slow cooker.
made pea, potatoes and ham soup tonight eaten with naan bread and crusty bread for hubby. It was really warming and we don't want anything else it only took about 6 minutes when up to the boil to cook. Blitzed it with my hand held gizmo (sorry forgotten name of it)
You could make any food and leave for him to reheat.0 -
For my dh's dinner at work he takes in leftovers along with a microwave rice pouch, these are about 50p in Home Barg ins - might do if you can't find the microwave rice cooker."A strong man stands up for himself, a stronger man stands up for others" Barnyard the children's film.

First of all, although it seems mean, I agree with everyone who has said that if he can't be bothered to prepare anything then let him go hungry. He's an adult, he can make his own choices.
If you cook a stew containing veggies then all he has to do is heat it up. If you make a pasta sauce then he "could" eat it with pasta (pre-cooked and then reheated), with a jacket potato or even just with crusty bread. Same goes for chili and rice/spud/bread.
You're both working, you're doing your best and if he chooses to not look after himself then that's his choice. Good luck though, and at least you've got some options for yourself and your daughter too.Debt:None
Will to do better:Always and forever0 -
Well I have had some sucsess today. Found a mirowave rice/veg cooker in B&Ms. Shown the DD how to use it and everybody is very interested in using it. Batched cooked 3 Beef and Ale stews, 3 sausage casseroles and DH is very interested in having a decent meal with it even going to use the mircowave steamer to do his veg to go with it. Batch cooking for me and the girl tomorrow. Thai green curry and chilli. Has anyone had any success with freezing noodles? Thinking of making myself some noodle pots to take to work with me.
The OH is now going to be looking at the recipe page so he can choose some different stuff to eat. The girl made sweet and sour chicken tonight with my help. I think I have found some of my mojo.:j0
