Just out of curiosity I've done a comparison of historical stamp prices with figures adjusted for inflation to today's values (in brackets).
1980 -1st, 12p (44p) - 2nd, 10p (36p)
1990 -1st, 22p (42p) - 2nd, 17p (33p)
2000 -1st, 27p (39p) - 2nd, 19p (27p)
2010 -1st, 41p (45p) - 2nd, 32p (35p)
2014 -1st, 62p (62p) - 2nd, 53p (53p)
It looks to me like profiteering now the Royal Mail has been privatised.
I thought current stamps were 60p/50p, are they going up again? x
Edit: Just scrolled back!Just heard the price of stamps are going up again 2p first class and 3p for second I thinkpeeps are going to be bulk buying
I'll be stocking up before the increase but I did that last year and just entered more postals than normal so the stamps didn't last long :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Small business owner 🧵 Ex MSE comper 🏆 Student loan repayer 💴 Romanian dog rescuer 🐕 Hopefully a cost of living survivor 🤞🏻0 -
