DMP Payday loan non default

Hello MSE Forum

i have a question which may seem strange or possibly daft but here goes. i began DMP in Feb 10, i left in May 13 due to improvement in financial circumstances. It left me with 4 defaults, all fully settled now im currently debt free:rotfl:. i check my report regular and noticed that a payday loan (Payday UK) was not defaulted. Which has resulted in a settled account as of May 13 it also has a notice saying im in DMP (its marked as ended). As settled accounts stay on for 6 years this has left me quite upset, as someone who hopes to get a mortgage in 2-3 years, when they look at the payday loan closely, which they are bound to do it will show i was in a DMP. at the moment it feels like the moment my DMP ended was actually the moment it started. would/could i request they change the account to default? is this a stupid idea? any hep greatly appreciated.

What does the account history show? the monthly record of payments part? does it show a row of missed payments?

Yes it would be a good idea to ask them to mark your credit report with a default dated back in 2010 (it should be dated between 2 and 6months from when you first entered the DMP/missed the original repayment date).

Definitely worth a shot writing to ask them to amend it.

If it shows a row of '6' markers in the monthly payment history then this is against the ICO guidelines on filing a default notice and it would be worth quoting the relevant section of the guidelines in your letter to them.

See here - ICO Guidance - Filing defaults with credit reference agencies There is a bit fermi has highlighted in red which is relevant.

  • Hi Tixy

Many thanks for your reply, the account shows 1-12 months, 2 missed, 13-24, 2 missed and 25-36, 3 missed. thanks for that link its very informative, after reading it, i may be able to use points 10 and 24 in my letter and failing that im going to the ICO. It seems strange battling to get a default put onto my credit report, hence my 'is this a daft question remark'
