Ccj???

My parnter has just discovered he has a CCJ on his credit file, he only found this out after applying for a loan and them telling him he had a CCJ on his file.
What does this mean??? We've had no letters in the post at all about it, he rang some number to find out, which told him he went onto his file in April. But where yet to know anything about it. Wouldn't of found out unless he'd applied for a loan.
So what does it all mean???? What will happen??

It is a County Court Judgement.
He will have defaulted on a credit agreement and his name will have been taken to court for the ccj to be authorised.
Should you despute it, the first thing you need to is get a credit search done and find out what it is from.
You can get a credit search from here for free:

Thats the first thing you need to do.
If it is not removed it means that you have adverse credit and that you will be classed as "high Risk" to anyone who wants to lend you money/credit etc, therefore you will pay higher rates.0 -
Can it be removed?? We bought our 1st house in Oct, so if the ccj went onto his file in April, then obviously letters etc if they went out, went to our old address.
Also puzzled why nothing was forwarded onto our current address.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
Does a ccj involve people coming into your house and removing goods to cover the cost??Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160

Do not, ever, rely on Royal Mail to forward post. I do not know if you had been using Royal Mail redirection, but exactly the same thing happened to some friends of ours.
What you must do is get a copy of your credit file from Experian and Equifax. This will detail the court, date, amount and who the judgement is in favour of. There will also be information on what to do about querying any entries on your credit file.
