Do I need to declare this? If so how?

Options
I am due to be an external examinor in Sweden soon. For this I'll be paid a fee. I'm assuming that I'll have to declare this? Should I fill in a self- assesment form?

If it's a one off I'd try just calling HMRC and declaring it over the phone (or write in), they might come back asking you to do a full self-assessment, but hopefully not. If it were going to be an ongoing thing you ought to register as self employed.

No idea if there are implications Sweden side - hopefully whoever is paying you the fee can help a little with that.

Is your fee to be paid net or gross of Swedish taxes? I'd establish that before you start the work, as Scandinavian tax rates are very high.

Thanks for answers so far I guess I will try rining HMRC. I do think it is gross, but to be honest I do not care too much aboit the exact amount. They are flying me out all expenses paid and it will be good for my profile, plus they are always a pleasure to visit.
