We needed a tinkerbell costume (pale green) for DD, and ended up buying white things and dying them (it's actually very easy - just chuck the clothes and the stuff in the washing machine).

Might not help you get the right "look", but might help with the colour?

If you really have trouble, ask the school for help.

Any pair of trousers or shorts cut them in a zig zag/ pointy style round the turnups a checked shirt (really need a white collar but not necessary) use hair gel to make the hair into tufts as they were sort of bald with curls.(three I think one in the middle and two at each side. And rosy cheeks with lipstck. They also spoke as if they had eaten a helium baloon but perhaps a littlle extreme!!

Only clicked on this message to see what advice people had given as DS1 has a book week at school soon and needs a costume (character from a book). I have no imagination and cannot sew, lol! But seashore this really did make me chuckle!!!

Sazere - for book week - an easy costume I used for my son the other year was Harry and his bucketful of dinosaurs - just need to put small child in suitable 'civvies' rather than uniform, and fill a sandcastle bucket with plastic dinosaurs (clingfilm over the top of the bucket will stop the dinosaurs escaping) and 'voila'.

OK, so some may say it was the easy way out, but he loved it, and several people said 'why didn't I think of that'.
