Been given a George Foreman grill. Had one many years ago and I was never good at cleaning it. Does not have removeable plates.
Going to use it as my grill in my oven is useless

as soon as you finish cooking on it, switch it off and give it a good wipe with either a washing up sponge (sponge side) or a piece of kitchen towel. Less that a minute to do that and it will only need a quick wash down with some soapy water when you wash up.DFW Nerd no 239.....Last Personal Debt paid off Nov 2012!

I had the same problem with cleaning it. Tried when GF grill was hot or cold.
I am putting kitchen foil on it now (on the top and bottom plates) and it seems to solve the cleaning problems.0 -
put soap (or half soap half water) on when hot, it foams up and the dirt falls off!June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

If it's already cooled down, I find it works to pop some damp kitchen towel on it and let it warm up for a bit. Helps soften the fat/food, and can then be cleaned with a non-scratch sponge0

I have a newer one with black static plates, best to clean immediately with damp kitchen towel.
My ole grey one got harder over time but used the GF sponges to clean it though got lazy and eventually got blackened0 -
I find the cleaning of mine so easy. The trick is to clean it whilst hot, if you dont have time after you have served up turn it on again to heat up before cleaning. I just use damp kitchen paper and it just wipes clean, remember to use alot of kitchen paper as you can feel the warmth through it. Be careful don't burn yourself.0

I use greaseproof paper folded in half in mine and never have to clean grease off it. Got the idea when I went into a sandwich store and they used greaseproof paper to keep theirs clean. I then simply wash it with a sponge after using it. I used to hate using mine but now it's easy and quick to clean. I've even made lamb chops in it using the greaseproof paper. Then just throw the paper away when done.
Cheers

Scrape the worst of it off with the plastic spatula while it's still hot. Turn it off and put a run of washing up liquid along the top edge.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
