You don't need to spend £24,000 to get a reliable car - you could easily do it for a quarter of that amount. After your rent and the car you only have £164 left - you are not going to be able to live on that.

It looks like the Car 1 is the main issue, did you say you've sent that one back?

TBH it sounds like your attempting to justify the car it would be best off gone hash as it sounds , budget shows that your spending £150p/m of fuel, thats only around 21gal, so working on a very average gal/mile your only doing around 12,000mile a year.. In reality a 22K motor isn't needed, Iv done this sort of millage in Cars that have cost £900 to buy with repairs, Tyres and maintenance as little as £300 P/A. in fact buy the right car and an old banger will even appreciate. best I ever did was buy for £800 drive for 6 years spend £500 on repairs and sell for £2200.

In Reality, a car costing a few thousand isnt going to give you much trouble, its a matter of smart buying.

The Car will be of no asset in a few years time.

Grocery bill seams a very cheep as well, I would expect that to be nearly double that amount.
  • Hey OP - your costs per month - you mention having 2 cars and one is "her car" - this means I suppose you're in a relationship? Does that mean you are also paying for your other half's car as well as your own? Does that also mean that your costs included in your SOA actually are only half of what you have written down?

If your debts are combined I recommend doing a joint SOA with your OH to get a true understanding of costings etc - e.g. do you pay ALL the sky each month or is it 47 each you actually pay?

You've made the leap and addressed your debts - give a bit more info and the lovely people on here should be able to help you - they have done wonders for me and I agree with Fmess - the 'just say NOvember' challenge and others provide great motivation for kicking those debts!

    Good luck x

  • How long have you got left on the mobile contracts. You need to get these cancelled as soon as possible.
    Anything you can sell?
You haven't shown your partners (i assume partners) contribution to the car.
You probably also have other expenses? birthdays, holidays etc?
