merged companies now i'm being pushed out

Recently we merged with another company who have a reputation for hiring and firing. My colleagues have moved on and i have had to carry on with working trying to cover their workload. I managed for a few months to keep on top during the merge and have a new colleague to assist, problem is my colleague has been pulled off to help elsewhere 2 days a week and now i am expected to cover both our work load. To add to this i have been given more work to project manage for existing contracts and other duties.
I have pointed out i have far too much work already - this is where the fun starts....
H&S along with HR are done by the same person - finance director who incidentally worked for the other company, my now line manager also worked for said company. i have since been hauled in for not complying - even though i have pointed out the amount of work load, accused of not carrying out updating files - again proved there was a problem with the file, accused of 'rubbing people up the wrong way' even though have worked at same company for over 10 yrs and now faced with warning for not following protocol, again was not down to me but my line manager. For some reason my line manager (who is good friends with HR/FD) does not keep me informed and awaits until i am hauled up in front of the FD for apparently not doing what i'm told, (must point out i no longer have a job description and will do as im told -words of FD).
I am so fed up and distraught with stress that i have been signed offsick for a month, i am now getting letters from work asking why? what are my problems etc (basically following procedures laid down by HSE). I am at the point of resigning as it is clear there is little i can do, when the issues i find myself facing are with my line manager and FD.... having to tread carefully in case i make a mistake! I cant even face going back to work with these people..... in almost 30 years i have never had to endure anything like this... what should i do??? i am currently looking an alternative job and cant wait to move on...

Get signed off for as long as possible and find another job ASAP!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Well, that's not an easy situation. I hope you find a better job soon. I mean, a job where you feel comfortable is best for a person who works hard and excels especially when they are being trusted. For the mean time, hang on while you look for a new job. Remember, you're the only person who can save yourself so don't lose hope.

You can do it! *Thumbs Up!0 -
Just do what you can. What tasks you can't do sensibly in a day simply won't get done until the next day.
As the work builds-up, they should start to notice. When they query how much you are doing, you can always respond with "I can either do one job at a time well, or I can do 2 at once half-a5red. Which do you want?"Never Knowingly Understood.

Keep copious notes of meetings, what you've been told to do. What you've not been told and then pulled up for etc etc. You may need them later.
You could ask that important things are emailed to you so there's no room for misunderstanding?
Do you have the opportunity to put your side of the story for the things you've been blamed for? Have you got copies of any minutes or allowed to take your own notes at the time?
You could ask them in writing for a copy of your new uptodate job description.
I think also you may want to keep a log of what you are doing (And not doing) so you can demonstrate that you are struggling with the workloads and are prioritising as best you can.
I hope you can get through this.

Thanks to you all for your support! I have made notes, kept emails etc but they are good at this having got away with it for so many years. Posted my CV and fingers crossed someone out there will see my potential and give me an opportunity to move on - after all we all deserve some luck in life
Ref job description, feed back is they're still working on this, well I hope they get it right for the next person! When putting across my side of the story FD is too quick to move on to the next question, so I've decided enough is enough and will see if I can get signed off long enough to find another job... Something I really didnt want to have to do as I don't want this to go against me in moving forward to my next position, but being realistic about all this they forced my hand!
I will get through this one way or the other, not going to allow corporate bullying to make me ill with stress, there's more to life after all :-)
Thanks again for your support0
