Expired Tesco Vouchers

Does anyone know if you can get a refund or re issued vouchers for ones that expired earlier this year?

If so how do you go about it?? i've found £60.50 worth that expired in May and August of this year! Not happy :(:(

Please help/advise

Thank You:o

  • I very much doubt it, that would defeat the whole point of them.

If you call them up they might reissue them. I had some days out vouchers that ran out before I could use them. They did reissue them as points.

The first post sets out Tesco's changed position on this issue - they won't now reissue, or do anything about, expired vouchers.

They used to, but not any more.

I was quite shocked to find this out. I phoned last week as I have a couple of vouchers running out, only to be told that they no longer reissue new ones:mad: So I am going to have to start spending them.

I wonder why they have taken this stance:(

Perhaps because Tesco (despite all its cuddly, friendly image building) is still, deep at heart, an unpleasant, uncaring, manipulative, greedy, grasping, rapacious company determined to screw every last penny out of its long-suffering customers?

Get your own back - switch to Aldi for the same (or better) quality food at around 30% lower prices. :)

Oh that's an awful lot of money to lose and, more especially, when you could have doubled up or more to buy something. What I do with my vouchers is keep them all in one clear poly pocket and clipped together with the ones to be used first at the top. I also put a post-it note on the top one with a clear reminder of when the first ones are due to expire. Each time I receive new vouchers, I add this on to my total and double check when the first ones expire. That way it keeps you on top of where you are with your dates. I also keep them in the one place only to save me searching for them as that's no doubt what would happen if I didn't do that. A drawer you go into every day is a good place to keep things you don't want to lose.

That's such a shame that they won't re-issue as it's money they really do owe you. I wonder how they stand legally with that but no doubt their solicitors have already said it legal.

It seems to me the only puzzle is why they ever had a policy of reissuing vouchers in the first place. As I said above, it defeats the point of them.

The vouchers are calculated to manipulate you into buying more food than you would normally buy. If they gave you an unlimited time in which to cash them then you would be able to use them without consuming any more than usual.

For example, if I get a voucher for rice it will be two days after I've just bought a bag. If I then get another bag for stock so that I use up the voucher, they then send another one. If you manage to use up all your vouchers, you're allowing yourself to be drawn in just the way Tesco wants you to be.

Another example: Tesco keep sending me vouchers for a £2 discount if I spend £20 or more, because they know I usually spend less than that. I can use a few of the vouchers by saving up some purchases until the next shopping trip, but they're sent too often to use them all without overspending.

I think you're misunderstanding the sort of vouchers being discussed. :)
