hi, could anyone shed light on owning an ottoman base as it will have more storage than the drawer divan.
just want to know if its sturdy or not or if anything can go wrong with the mechanism.
btw , i will have kids jumping on it (with mattress on of course)
when they cant go out on trampoline.

I have an ottoman base bed and it certainly isn't suitable for jumping on, even just lying on it and it creaks and groans. It is good for storage though but is heavy to lift up0

As always it depends on what you are after.
Frame style ie leather or fabric look.
Or a divan.
This is the best one I known of on the market, but look at the price £749 for a double.. http://www.bestpricebeds.co.uk/dreamworks-malvern-lift-up-storage-base-pid2368.html
Frame style....£219, but it's imported and most likely to break.

This is a reasonable quite solid divan style........£349....http://www.time4sleep.co.uk/beds/storage-beds/ottoman-beds/clayton-ottoman-storage
Bear in mind with all the frame styles the mattress sits on slats, which means in 3 months time the stuff you are storing will be covered in dust.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
drawer divan.
ottoman base bed could be difficult to access. My mum has ottoman base bed. She told me that lift up hinge have certain lifespan, which could be difficult to find one to replace.0 -
The hinge life system on most of the ones I've seen is a hinge with a gas strut similar to a boot. Unless you are in it 5 times a day I can't see any problems with it.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0

No idea if that is true.
She got her bed 7/ 8 years and probably access to ottoman once a month and she already change the hinge by once. Or she being unlucky?0 -
thanks for all the info and replies, can't afford the first expensive one, which would be the only ideal one, so will just go for normal drawer divan.Nice to save.0

Maybe 7/8 years ago they weren't made so well as they are now.
Or like you said, maybe she was unlucky with her one.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
you can get decent storage from an ordinary bed with storage boxes. storage boxes make it easier to retrieve and organise stuff. get see through ones from lidl0
