Apply in branch or over the phone

Morning All,

FTB and hoping to have an offer accepted tomorrow. Wondering if it's better to apply for a mortgage over the phone or in branch? I don't have an AIP but i have a 45% deposit and looking to go with Santander. If i apply by phone, how does it work in terms of showing proof of ID, salary and any documents the EA may give me? (the house has a PRC certificate).

Thanks for any advice, having a very nervous wait this weekend!

I would say apply in branch, we did (with nationwide tho) and everything was quick from application, survey to offer.

From I've read on forum here people who apply on the phone seem to have problems with submitting their paperwork ie payslips etc and banks keep asking them to submit it over and over causing a massive delay (dont know about Santander but this is the case with Nationwide sometimes).I prefer dealing with someone face to face anyways.

    Good luck with your application!
