I wanna take photos from space!

Hi
Ok, so I'm not a scientist but I absolutely LOVE the pictures people have been able to take from space.
The are lots of stories popping up of people making home made kits and taking their own photos from space. When I say space I guess I'm talking about the edge of the atmosphere, its not actually space but the nearest you can get.
I really want to do this! But I don't know how
Does anyone know of any resources I can look at that will guide me on how to make this a reality? I'm hoping to get a local school involved so the kids can learn something and have something amazing at the end of it.
Any physicists out there who can help?
