Hi - have been posted on the other forum as recent did a credit check and had a default and some other things against me by the CRA. Turned out someone at an old address has been taking accounts out in my name. It took two months to get it all removed - along with a number of other seraches etc. This only came to light as I was applying for a mortgage.
I checked after 8 weeks and having received letters saying it was cleared - After all this time I have finally had the default and all associated searches removed but still unable to get a mortgage. Mortgage company can't say why but it wouldn't even let them "appeal the decision". My credit rating is now back to almost perfect (missed a payment once on an account and once on another in the past 12 months) but otherwise spotless yet I'm not able to apply for credit. Anyone have any idea why this might be - I'm at a loss!

Lender uses a different credit file to that you have been checking...

It was with the coventry who are my current supplier - have checked with equifax, experience and had confirmation from call credit that its all removed.
Am worried as not found a house yet and have just weeks to organise or organise a rental and concerned wont get approval for that either.0 -
Credit checks for rental properties are much less detailed, so unless you have any CCJs and can afford the rent you should be fine. Mortgage lenders will possibly see every default, late payment and 'associated persons', and have much stricter criteria.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0
