Hiya our DIP was referred. Nationwide asked for the usual six months bank statements etc. they then asked lots of questions which our broker answered for us very promptly. He also pre planned ahead so he had info ready for them before they asked. Our DIP went in on the 19th September and was accepted in the 28th September. We then completed the full application on the 28th October and had the valuation on the 31st October with the formal offer on the 1st November so very quick in the end
  • Hey just thought I'd update after starting this thread finally heard back from nationwide today and they will only lend us £131000 unfortunately needed £139950 mortgage broker said he tried everything and agrees was a waste of time them even asking for dh temp ref as it didn't make any difference anyway he still thinks nationwide are not understanding the childcare fees. Anyway he is now submitting an application to the Halifax and seems confident I'm not as dont want to get my hopes up anymore.

Good luck to the rest of U hope nationwide dont mess U around for weeks like they have us!! X
  • Undate to finish halifax have offered us a mortgage for above what we asked for not wanting any further information or needing to see any documents. So pleased very quick and efficient.

Chances are, the case should have been with Halifax, and not Nationwide, in the first place.

Halifax always lends more. Ignores student loans and childcare costs and doesn't normally request bank statements.

Nationwide is the opposite, but Nationwide has two, three and five year offers which are often market leaders.

    As a broker, you are;-

firstly trying to find the BEST deal or

secondly trying to find a deal.

Sometimes, you end up sacrificing the first, to achieve the second.

The talent is knowing when you are wasting your time on the first.

  • Thanks king street definately agree Halifax seem to be complete opposite. I'd rather pah them the extra £10 a month and have no more stress.

This post just goes to show, why you should always use a broker!
