Failing to get a Mortgage due to Not being Registered on Voting List

Hi Everyone,
I'm going through a mortgage broker to deal with the mortgage application. My credit score is fair, I have no default but the only problem is that I'm not on the electoral register. Contacted Haringey and they said their list won't be updated untill February 2014 if I register now. Halifax and Nationwide won't go any further due to this issue. I'm not sure what to do next. If I don't get this mortgage soon I will lose the property I've put an offer on. So it's a rush situation at the moment. Does anyone know a way round it?

Should've got those ducks lined up before putting offers in me old mucker.
I'm sure a broker will be able to offer some practical advice....0 -
Are you not registered to vote Anywhere in the UK?
Should I ask where have you been?
Looks like you may have to hunt down local electoral registration offices, check how soon they're doing an update & register with whichever comes up soonest.

Hi, not necessarily a deal breaker but will depend upon the rest of your case.
I assume you have at least your bank account listed at where you live?
Engage a broker (not the estate agent one of course) and worth getting your Experian, Equifax and Call Credit reports in advance.
Best of luckI am a Mortgage Broker

Yes I have my account showing where I lived for the past 6 years incl. bank statement and driving license. I have pulled my credit experian already and this is where it's showing not registered on voting list. I have been studying for the past 7 years never thought i'd need to register so soon. I'm using an independent broker from yourmove. Is that classed as an estate one and why not use them?0 -
If you need to supply proof that you are registered to vote at a particular address, you can purchase a 'Certificate of Residency'.
if you ring your council they should send you a copy ,some local councils charge some don't but it is unlikely to cost you more than £20

Due to the fact they are inexperienced typically and you tend to find problems like you have when a decent broker is more likely to get right lender first time.
Not convinced ea brokers are ever truly independent...I am a Mortgage Broker
