I finish a 6 month contract next month after having not worked for 7 year (looking after kids).
Would I be entitled to any benefits?
Thank You

You would not be entitled to contribution based JSA because you have not paid the correct number of NI contributions (two previous tax years)
Therefore, you would have to apply for income based JSA. This is based on household income and savings so if you have a partner who works full time then you would not be eligible.
If you claim tax credits you should inform them when you have finished work (change of circumstances).0 -
Depending on the age of your children you may be able to claim JSA, however this depends on how much your partner earns.0

The age of the children is irrelevant to JSA. If the OP is a lone parent and has children below school age she may be entitled to income support.
(It looks like the OP is married, so IS would not be relevant.)0 -

It is relevant, if her children were under schooling age then she wouldn't be receiving JSA but IS instead if she met the financial criteria.0 -

She would not be eligible for IS if she is married, irrespective of the age of the children. IS is only for lone parents and carers (and older incapacity claims).0
