Tesco Refund Policy

I bought some rubber gloves in Tesco and got the wrong size. For convenience I took them back to a much smaller branch for a refund, but was told they can't do a refund as they don't stock the item at that branch.
Does anyone know if that's right?

I would think it probably is. I ordered from M&S click and collect and collected my clothes items at a simple food, but couldn't return to there as they don't stock clothes. I know its not the same thing but both are a case of not being able to return an item that they don't stock in that store.

Most probably right. Outfit don't take back topman clothes if they don't have a topman in store only a topshop...0

Whereas I think Primark let you return clothes at any store, even if they don't stock that particular line, which is very handy.
I guess I assumed all shops would be the same, but perhaps this is down to their own policy rather than the law.0 -
I think the assistant you spoke to was mistaken as I work for Tesco and the policy is you can take an item back to any store they don't have to stock the item. I hope this helps.0

That's interesting. I've got the refund now from the original store. I was wondering if, when a store doesn't stock the item, they'd be unable to process the refund electronically as the item wouldn't be on their system?
Anyway, in light of your comment, if it happens again I'll argue the point a bit more. After all, it could be very awkward if you bought the item while away somewhere, and then were refused a refund at your local store.0
