The Meter Reading Agency ?

Options
Has anyone ever heard of "The Meter Reading Agency" ?
I recently changed supplier from EDF to isupplyenergy. Changeover seemed to go smoothly but I've yet to receive a refund from EDF for overpayments during their stint as my supplier.

On enquiring, it seems they're waiting for isupplyenergy to tell them what my meter reading on the changeover date was (even though I entered it on both organisations' websites on the day !).

Looking at isupplyenergy's website it appears they have never used the meter readings I took on the day but instead are showing some (greyed out) figures marked as being the "readings validated by the Meter Reading Agency in accordance with regulations and industry rules" and that "We will not be able to use the readings in our bill calculations unless this happens".

The values shown are absolutely ludicrous ! Our day rate reading still hasn't reached their 'validated reading' and our night rate units were well ahead of their figure on changeover day.

It's incredibly difficult to contact isupplyenergy. Several of their 'website messages' and several more proper emails have gone unanswered so I tried to telephone them this morning using the number shown on their website (01202 612161) but all I got was a recorded message asking me to contact them via a website message (where of course they were still ignoring me !) then disconnected.

On my next attempt, using my experience of other automated telephone management systems, I managed to force their system to put me in a queue for an operator so finally got a response - after 15 minutes of queuing !

Having spoken to their operator, she has promised to contact EDF and propose that both companies ignore the ‘official’ readings in favour of my actual readings. Funnily enough, that's exactly what I expected to happen in the first place

However, she also promised to give me contact details of ‘The Meter Readings Agency’ so that I can tell them what an incompetent set of buffoons they are. Alas, no such contact details were supplied.

Although their use of the term suggests that ‘The Meter Readings Agency’ is an official Government body, I can find no trace of such an organisation and suspect they should actually be calling them ‘our meter readings agency’ in which case the prime suspects are a company called ‘Accuread’ about whom the internet has thousands of similar reports listed – but I can’t even find a website for them. The website http://www.accuread.co.uk does (sort of) exist but fails to display anything on my monitor.

I'd be most grateful if any other isupplyenergy customer who actually knows which meter readings agency isupplyenergy uses could let me know who they are and how one can contact them.

isupplyenergy have now given me details of their meter reading agency - but having contacted them, they deny all knowledge of my property and have forwarded my email to EDF

Have to say I thought it was expecting a lot that both companies would use the same agency.

Meanwhile, I've had this message from EDF :
Dear Mr Eric Mears,

    Contract Account Number: *****************

The withdrawal process has begun for your EDF Energy Electricity account.

We are currently in the process of contacting your new supplier to agree an accurate closing meter reading and this process can take between 6 to 8 weeks. As soon as a meter reading has been agreed a final bill will be sent to you. Please note that you do not have to take any further action.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Please be assured that every effort is being made to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

But on their website they're showing an 'estimated' bill using my initial readings as actual ones and my final readings as 'estimates' ! The calculation goes on to show that they owe me £59.14 although apparently they have no intention of paying me that until they've managed to 'verify' my readings .

I guess they're waiting until somebody has invented a reliable time machine so that they can arrange to visit at the beginning of last month ! :rotfl:

Do we have an EDF company representative in the MSE forum ?

Still no further forward in finding out where my 'rogue estimates' came from ! EDF categorically deny it was anything to do with them (do I believe them ? No Way !)

However, there is some good news. After a couple of emails to EDF's CEO (thanks to this organisation ) I've now had a promise that my refund is on its way along with a further £25 by way of apology.

  • Hi,

I'm also an isupplyenergy, (but NOT Customer Service), Customer and having problems with my meter reading validation, (lack of)!

I would be VERY GRATEFUL if you could post the Name & Contact details of the Meter Reading Agency used by isupplyenergy?

I had a new meter fitted a month ago and not only are meter readings not being validated but isupplyenergy say they can't even see any readings since then on my account, despite the fact that I have been entering them weekly! I have asked isupplyenergy to sort out the problem but, as others have experienced, they either completely ignore messages set by the online account messaging service, or reply with an empty apology and no solutions!

I suspect that the Meter Reading Agency are not aware that I have a new meter with a new serial number and until they do I will end up getting terribly inaccurate estimated bills! Having previously experienced just how wildly inaccurate isupplyenergy estimates are, I wish to avoid getting any more bills based on them.

I'd be reaggly grateful if someone could supply the details of the Meter Reading Agnecy used by isupplyenergy.

Thanks & Happy New Year to all!

isupplyenergy gave me the name of their meter reading agency for this area (Derbyshire) as Lowri Beck Services. I've no idea whether they're the only agency isupplyenergy use or if perhaps other agencies do different areas.

I received an email from Elaine Towey( Elaine.Towey@lowribeck.co.uk ) which also gave company address as Triangle House, Swan Meadow Road, Wigan, WN3 5BB Tel: 01942 369 369

Have to say that in my particular case, the fictional readings must have come from my previous supplier (EDF) as I can see absolutely no reason how or why isupplyenergy or Lowri Beck could possibly have a view on what my meter readings were the day before they took on responsibility for 'validating' them.
