Horlicks shortage?

We have been trying to get Horlicks Light from our usual Supermarket, Sainsburys. At first Light was unavailable, the shelf space being filled with traditional Horlicks. Now none is available, not even the one cup sachets. Looking at mysupermarket.co.uk, it is only at Asda and Tesco, then only in 400g refills. Looking at Horlicks website, looks like there are new containers for it - 500g and 300g jar, 400g refill pouches as well as the 32g one cup sachets. Can't see this being a reason not to sell it in the meantime.

Anyone finding it unavailable?

  • So it's not just North Devon where there's no Horlicks. Have been trying to buy some for about three weeks. There's been none in our local Waitrose, or in the mega Sainsbury's in Barnstaple. What's going on? We need an answer!
And, if any non-Horlicks drinkers are wondering, Ovaltine is no substitute!
  • This link http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/shelves/Chocolate_And_Malt_Drinks_in_Tesco.html?_fty=Instant_Malt_Drink shows MySupermarket.co.uk and Tesco. If you point the mouse at an item a little popup shows which other stores it is available. Note that Tesco is suspiciously expensive too!
  • Had some Horlick light in our local asda near Birmingham didn't look at the jar size sorry,

If you can't get normal Horlicks, the A$da own brand malt drink is an acceptable alternative.

Wish they would bring back Horliks tablets too....

We're just trying the Sainsbury's version. Bit thin and sweet but acceptable.
Not sure I know about (or knew about) Horlicks tablets.
  • I wonder if they are phasing it out as it's in Home Baragains
