Yes we have one it wasn't mega expensive & doubt I would go back to gas (not an option in this kitchen anyway :D).

Just so convenient & safe - can't be accidentally switched on by a cat dancing over the worktop, won't work without a pan on it!

I have the John Lewis own brand induction hob. Only ever had gas before but not easily available in this kitchen. I love the responsiveness and it is so easy to clean. It does have to be wired in. I would definitely recommend.

Why not have both as you are starting from scratch? Google domino hobs, two gas, two induction, maybe a wok gas burner if you have room.

I cooked for most of my life with electric radiant rings, when we moved into our new build we didn't have the option to have an induction hob, it was gas or gas. Once the two year guarantee is up, I will be going with what I've suggested, I cannot get on with the gas hob at all. I hate the smell, and I'm constantly fiddling with the gas level and swapping the pans over to different burners. I hate the gas hob here, you can't get four pans on it properly, and it is a 'good' make as well. It is seriously badly designed. Sorry, bit of a vent there :)

The OH loves cooking on a gas hob though, hence the domino hob option being best.
Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

  • I love my induction hob and wouldn't go back to gas. It is quicker, cleaner and more energy efficient . Safer too as it won't work without a pan on it. It also looks very sleek and modern. In our last home we had a Dedetrich and we now have a 3 ring hob from IKEA.
My secret fantasy is having 2 men....
