Hi I'm potentially going to buy an old stone barn and convert it into a home. I'm going to see an IFA tomorrow but just wondered how banks classify the term uninhabitable with regards to a mortgage. All depend on survey, presume not in habitation, but expect a full retention from the surveyor, there may also be severe damp/dry rot issues as a result of damage and damp penetration making the repairs reqd and bill pretty steep.

Have a survey conducted (independent or as part of a mge app say on a renovation mge) and take it from there.
