  • I think you are making a mistake by selling up. The 50k equity will mean you will get no benefits until its nearly gone. You need to keep the house. Is it a repayment mortgage? Cant you try for interest only.

    If your Son is 16 it won't be long before you are no longer entitled to tax credits so please be careful in whatever you decide?

    You should be able to earn up to £5000 more a year without it changing this tax years tax credits so can you not find a second job and change to interest only to give yourself a bit of breathing space?
