Can I move on to the current rate?

This might sound like a stupid question, but I signed up for HSBC's fee free tracker a few months ago (the one with no penalties etc).

Now the rate is better would I just be able to move on to the current rate?

Another tracker product, or the standard variable rate?

Yes, but you would have to pay any fees required for the new rate.

There is some information on their website for existing-customers and about tracker-mortgages.

I did this before for a fee free rate, and I requested a switch two days ago for a rate with a £99 fee. The new advertised rate wasn't available when I attempted to switch on-line, so I called their free-phone number. They are going to send me the forms to fill in and return.
