Taking on a self Employed person

The op is not a company, just a sole trader who wants to sub contract a bit of work out to another sole trader.
Unless the hours are regular month after month and the new person has no other clients, I can't see why HMRC would classify this as employment.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?
