There's an app for that........

Just been comparing prices between the supermarkets,
In days gone by I would have had to physically go to the store and walk around with a note book, noting the price, then comparing it to the next..
Now with modern smart phones and computer technology we can do it from our homes, saving time and money.
I have most of the major supermarket apps on my tablet and I am waiting for my supermarket to update their Android app to work on my device.
I also have my energy company's app to allow me to keep up to date on my usage, and imput regular meter reading.
My question to you is what apps, or modern technological wizardry to you use to save money or Time?
Have you found any new apps that would be beneficial to other OS'er?

  • Banking Apps - I used to check my bank daily, so I can move money out of current accounts and into savings or whatever was needed. After having DD I hardly went online and sometimes DH would take £10 and the current account would be in the red because i'd not checked and transferred the cash from the savings!

Since downloading the banking apps, my accounts are well managed as I check them every morning, and I just don't need to worry if I don't have time to get on my PC. I can pay bills and transfer money and sort out the spread sheet next week :)

Obviously MySupermarket is great for comparing prices and Supermarket own apps are amazing for tweaking my deliveries at the last minute.

I also love Facebook so I can upload onto facebay for selling stuff (or buying!) and then there is ebay, amazon, argos... great for comparing prices fast while out and about.

I even love this photo app I have, so when selling stuff I can tidy my photo's and make them look nice, or put two photo's into one so show off different angles and not paying to upload multiple photo's :)

Then there is email - how easy it is to send one off when you are on a phone to a company, or you need something sorting...

Some may not seem like money saving apps, but I find they are all great at helping me live OS with a Modern Twist :)

  • I have to say, love food hate waste is a little annoying,
Find it hard to input what's in my fridge, cupboard to use their menu planner.
And on the portion advice it tells me my portion of rice as cooked, I think it would be more helpful as uncooked weight
But will continue to use it for another week to see if it's just because it'snew to je

  • Cornish - I found their website really difficult to use, I also found that knowing how much cooked rice was useless, because you're likely to create more waste 'guessing' how much uncooked rice to cook.

Although I know an adult portion is 75g uncooked according to healthy start. 35g a child. Same for pasta x

This week I've been given a code from school to pay for DS school dinners online. I don't have to have the right change, I can pay whenever I [STRIKE]remember[/STRIKE] like and it won't go missing like his milk money has

I realise school dinners are not very :money: however I work and we use after school club some nights and have swimming so it makes sense for him to have a hot meal at lunchtime for now.

Also love online banking, mysupermarket, and other price checking sites. Not to mention all the voucher code sites - always do a bit of a search before ordering things these days.

  • Has anyone else upgraded the MySupermarket App!!!

It takes twice as long to amend my lists as I have to go into each item individually!!!

They ruined a perfectly good app :(

Rookie at this - but use my phone to photo the meters to do meter readings, & its reminder function to remind me to take them, at the start of each month!
  • Oh I use my phone to remind myself to take monthly readings, and I have a note of the maximum it can read to ensure I'm not in debt by spring too :)

Also, reminds me to deflea/Deworm the cat!

Plus I have yearly repeat reminders for birthdays, a week before it goes off to remind me to post the card, then on the day it reminds me so I can say happy birthday :)

Everyone is always so surprised I never forget... But I set my diary up 4 years ago :)
