I got one of these last christmas when they were doing them for £179, i would certainly recommend it, it copes with just about anything i throw (literally) at it, dough, cake mixes, pastry etc, and it makes amazing meringues. They're made from cast metal rather than plastic (the mixer not my meringues!) and looks like it's built to last.
Oh, and on the advert it says" three speeds" but it has a variable speed control plus a pulse function. As you may be aware by now i love mine and wouldn't be without it, i make bread almost daily with it, and no i don't work for Kenwood, i'm just a very happy customer.

I LOVE my Kenwood chef. I make all sorts with it, and have lots of the attachments. My faves are the ice cream maker and the mincer/sausage maker. Definitely worth £199.99!
