Food flask recommendations please

Are there any must have flasks please, that keep food well insulated and don't leak? Both DDs would like to start taking hot food to school.

Apologies if this would have been better posted somewhere else. I did try to search the forums but couldn't find anything.

um - I hate to say this - but please check with the school first! some do not allow hot foods to be brought into school. crazy I know - but I do know that in some LEAs they do not allow this.
  • I need one too, DS is in 6th form and they are allowed hot food but he found my 1970's, orange and brown food flask very wide and cumbersome (and ugly for that matter!) He wants to take HM soup bless him :)

I have a berghaus one. It has a metal fold out spoon in the lid. It's brilliant, if you fill with hot water for five mins before putting food in it stays even hotter.

Great for taking cold stuff in summer too.

Our school allow hot food but it has to be a stainless steel flask not the type with a glass liner.
I got some on amazon for about £7.00 each and they are great

I had an argos voucher to use up so bought the Thermos brand food flask. It was £19.99 i think so on the pricy side considering there are cheaper one's. However, my experience with mine has been great. keeps food hot until lunchtime with no leaks. The fold up spoon does go loose after a while but no biggy. Oh, and i lost the cup but to be honest the neck is so wide you eat straight out of it! Lovely on a cold day outside if you're unlucky enough to be in the elements at this time of year!!

DS1 uses one of these every day and saves me a fortune by taking his own hot lunch in to school.

No glass liner and you can microwave them to heat them up too - or pour boiling water in for five minutes when you make a cuppa.

Great to see this post. I've been looking out for a food flask. I want one that keeps food warm for at least 7 hours. (Think there is one on Amazon, so gonna ask Santa for it )
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

They look great! Think I might get one of the big ones for DW for Christmas. She could do with one for drinks too, but these don't look suitable for that so will maybe get her a separate one for that.

    I've had this onehttp://www.amazon.co.uk/Stanley-Litre-Classic-Food-Black/dp/B002Z2Q406/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
(or possibly it's predescesor) for about 8 years, and it's great - can't microwave it though getting flask-envy over that bento box one!

I got the pink dual bowl be to from alladin a couple of Christmas ago and fell in love straight away! Bf thought it was grand and we got him the lime greeny one not long after I moved in as he was jealous of mine!

They are Fab and well worth the money, you can get them in John Lewis too if you want to see before you buy. You can use one or both layers and the deeper one has a separator tub to use inside it too :-)
I often take a 'main' like leftovers or a fresh salad or something in the deep one and a 'dessert' like fruit salad and yogurt in the other! Although, the appearance is deceiving and the deep one is much deeper inside than you expect so if having soup/pasta/salads I use the smaller, shallower tub for those!
