Silly Question

Had our mortgage offer and got a email from solicitor with a mortgage deed form we had to sign and get witnessed. Whats this for? x

  • It is formal authority (agreement) for the lender to place a charge on your property as security for the loan

    The money you borrow to buy a property, is a loan.

    The deed tying the loan to the security property, is the mortgage.

    We've all got used to describing a "homeloan" as a mortgage, but the above is the book answer, as SPM explained.
