Unexpected letter from csa today

Options
I am a regular user but have set up this username to hide my identity

OH Received a letter from the csa a couple of weeks ago regarding some arrears which had built up over the last 12 months, He had given the csa his bank details many times in the past (Via phone and by letter) but every month they failed to take payment, so we saved the money each month as we knew it was only a matter of time before they got in contact again

The day we received the letter OH called up and paid a large chunk of the arrears off and they said they would be in contact to set up regular payments ect.

Today we received a letter to say liability had ended due to 3rd party no longer pursuing the case. We can't imagine that she would have requested this (but of course we don't know) The strange thing was the date of the liability ending is 3 days before he call the csa and made a lump sum payment, and the csa never mention anything.

We are completely confused ;)

Comments

  • The date the liability ended could have been retrospective. If it was earlier September then perhaps the child is no longer in full time education?
  • Child is 13 so wouldn't have left education.

Hence why we are soo suprised. I'm guessing that the PWC can open another case at any time?

Yes, if the case is closed for 13-weeks it would open on the new 2012 scheme, which has some minor differences in how maintenance is calculated (it uses gross income minus pension contributions instead of net income).
  • (If the PWC reopens it within 13 weeks then it will be on whichever scheme you're currently on)
