What a fantastic life style change
- very radical and certainly not an easy option but a self sufficient life in the slow lane must be much more spiritually fulfilling than a life spent running to keep up with Jones's.

I thought humans have always done this, by definition we live off the land, just people often forget it.
And now there are 6 billion plus of us, but we still manage it, indeed if the food produced was shared fairly there'd be more than enough for everyone.
Is this really practical in the England ?
There's something like more than 2 people per acre of agricultural land (of all types).
So if more than a few try this, it puts more pressure on the rest of the population relying, in part, on a smaller area for agricultural production.0 -

Pigs, hens and cider? You definitely need to look at the Daydreamers thread in the Green Fingered Money saving board! Trust me, you'd be more at home there than I am at the moment, but this girl dreamsGood enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

I recommend reading The Moneyless Man and reading up about permaculture

for ideas on making the most of your land and inspiration for off grid living.

Check the covenants of any woodland your interested in, even a temporary shelter's (caravans, Yurt's,tents etc etc) are ruled out in a lot of covenants or restricted use, we have to disappear from here for 2 weeks of the year to keep it legal, you may get away with it but then again it just take's one busybody and your fall foul of planning.
Another road to look at maybe is going urban off-grid and hide in plain sight and take your/an existing home as off grid as you can.0 -
I've read the moneyless man and its kinda what made me think that this might be an achievable goal. As for blogging, I'm sure when I get somewhere I'll be writing regularly somewhere!Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0

I've decided following a summer of off-grid living at various solar powered events and festivals that I no longer want to live in the "modern world" and I have decided that I need to aim to buy a small plot of woodland or a meadow and live off the land there
Try a couple of winters as well before completely changing your life!0
