My son who is 24 and lives at home at present has a chance of an apprenticeship for 2 days a week but will not earn enough to live on at £2.95 per hour his fair to the place of work will be £10.00 per day would he be able to receive any benefits, as I am not in the position to support him?

I don;t think that there are any benefits that he can claim unfortunately. How far away would be be working and how would he get there? £10 a day seems quite a lot.
Why is the apprenticeship only for 2 days a week, I thought they were full-time with at least 1 day a week being training? EDIT: According to the Apprenticeships website, apprenticeships should be for a minimum of 30hrs per week.

Yes, not only do the hours seem wrong but the pay for a 24 year old also seems wrong!

An apprenticeship, apart from extreme circumstances must be 30hours a week. Can you detail the reasons it is not 30 hrs?0

If it is a genuine apprenticeship, then he would be getting more than the NMW for apprenticeships. Age is irrelevant in the first year as far as NMW is concerned. After the first year it goes up to the age related rate.0
