February Wedding ... Any Ideas???

Hello All
I have been reading many posts on this website and I have gathered so many ideas so first of all I would like to say THANK YOU :T
Right, back to the post
My and my OH have decided to get married next year on the 29th Feb and im very happy
I have been trying to think of what type of colours are nice to have around that time and I have come up with a deep red colour as it will give a warm feeling but I dont know if any other colour would do this, maybe brown??
My Ideas so far are:
We are having a registry office ceremony starting at 11.30am (this should last for a hour I believe)
Onto a local restaurant with the meal only starting around 3.00pm but they will open a bar for us all to stay in until ready. We cant hang about round the bar though for 2hrs 30 mins so any suggestions??
Then onto a local function room for the reception starting around 7.30pm.
We will be buying the invitations and thank you cards off ebay as we dont really need many but the menu's and place cards will be printed by ourselves.
I like the sound of having the disposable cameras on the tables so that other pictures can be taken.
A 3 tier wedding cake is what we will most probably have but I really do not want to spend a fortune on it and I dont like the sound of a fruit cake. Any suggestions on different cake fillings or are there any alternatives to the traditional cake??
Favour Ideas - fortune cookies or love heart sweets in a bowl on each table. are the favours used for the wedding breakfast or the reception or both??
In stead of confetti i was thinking of having bubbles but I dont know whether this would be a good idea in feb. what do you think??
Table layouts for reception - centre piece being balloons with confetti hearts sprinkled on each table with the disposable cameras being on there too. Balloon arch over buffet and just married banners on the walls.
Flowers will have to be fake due to having really bad hayfeaver
Dresses and Suits - Is it cheeky to ask the wedding party to pay for their own clothes or is it tradition for the couple to pay?
Wedding rings - Where do I look??
This is all I can think of so far so I will leave it at that
Thanks for any suggestions that may be made

Hope this helps!
We are having a registry office ceremony starting at 11.30am (this should last for a hour I believe) I had a civil wedding in a hotel and the whole thing including signing the registrar took at the most 20 mins.
Onto a local restaurant with the meal only starting around 3.00pm but they will open a bar for us all to stay in until ready. We cant hang about round the bar though for 2hrs 30 mins so any suggestions?? 11:30 is quite early for a wedding. I think you would probably be finished by 12pm so a 3 hour wait until your meal is quite a lot. Even you spend an hour taking pictures that would still leave 2 hours to wait in the bar. We had our wedding at 3, meal at 5 and reception at 7:30. Also bear in mind that if the wedding starts at 11:30, this really doesnt give you a lot of time to get ready.
Then onto a local function room for the reception starting around 7.30pm.
We will be buying the invitations and thank you cards off ebay as we dont really need many but the menu's and place cards will be printed by ourselves.
I like the sound of having the disposable cameras on the tables so that other pictures can be taken. We were going to do this but heard so many stories from people saying that their pictures were rubbish. Most of our guests brought their own digital cameras and have gave us discs with the pictures on them.
A 3 tier wedding cake is what we will most probably have but I really do not want to spend a fortune on it and I dont like the sound of a fruit cake. Any suggestions on different cake fillings or are there any alternatives to the traditional cake?? M&S do lovely wedding cakes. Their traditional cake comes in fruit and sponge so you could get a mixture if you want, or they have just started to do some less traditional designs aswell so have a look at their site.

Favour Ideas - fortune cookies or love heart sweets in a bowl on each table. are the favours used for the wedding breakfast or the reception or both?? We just gave favours to people at the meal
In stead of confetti i was thinking of having bubbles but I dont know whether this would be a good idea in feb. what do you think?? Im sure this would be fine but im sure some guests will bring confetti too
Table layouts for reception - centre piece being balloons with confetti hearts sprinkled on each table with the disposable cameras being on there too. Balloon arch over buffet and just married banners on the walls.
Flowers will have to be fake due to having really bad hayfeaver
Dresses and Suits - Is it cheeky to ask the wedding party to pay for their own clothes or is it tradition for the couple to pay? It is traditional to pay for the outfits for the wedding party. I personally think its unfair to expect someone to pay for an outfit that they cant used again. We paid for our bridesmaid and bestwomans dress and I wanted them back again to sell. Managed to get one of them back in good condition as the bestwoman got a cigarette burn in hers grrr!
Wedding rings - Where do I look?? We got ours with Tesco clubcard deals vouchers from goldsmiths so they didnt cost us anything. Bargain!

Thanks for the advice - very much apreciated

We only had a choice of 2 slots for the wedding, eiter 11.30am or 4.30pm so we decided on the earlier of the 2 as it would be very dark in feb at that time. I was hoping for around 2pm really.
I will have to try and find a way to fill in a 3hr gap unless i find a venue for the wedding breakfast that will serve earlier, around 1pm.
Thanks once again

But Linzi_h, you will only have a wedding anniversary every 4 years! That means that theoretically you will have to be married for 100 years to get to your Silver Wedding anniversary!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

I think your right about it probably being too dark for the later time. Im sure you will be able to get somewhere that will serve the meal earlier and you could prob start your reception a wee bit earlier too. The longer the party lasts the better! Honestly my evening do just flew by!
Oh and you can make the wedding last longer by picking longer vows or having readings etc. We picked the shortest vows we possibly could lol.

I relise this and the OH loves the idea (i wonder why!) but its a special day for us so we decided on that day. He will have to celebrate our anniversary 4 times better than he would have. I have a few ideas i.e a nice holiday
Oh thats an idea isnt it! I will end up in hospital on my wedding night because im so clumsey. I won an accident prone of the year award at school for breaking my wrist twice, fracturing my wrist once, tearing all the ligaments in my foot and having a sprained ankle all in 1 school year! I think i may give this one a miss! Thanks a great idea Emms. I will start looking now for th longest vows and some people to give a couple of readings to last longer. We have found a park with a lovely garden in where we are going to have photos taken so this will kill some time too if we have the meal at 3. Just hope the weather is ok to do but if not i will think of a back up planI think your right about it probably being too dark for the later time.
