Free At Ikea

Went to Ikea at Cardiff Bay. Came out of lift by car park (signposted RETURNS); we'd gone into store through store entrance. By the wall opposite the lift was a sort of trolley with offcuts of MDF, hardboard, etc in all different sizes and shapes. A piece of A4 paper attatched to the trolley said "Free for customers - please help yourself". So we did. Worth looking for at any Ikea. First time we've noticed it but only been there twice before.

You should see the size of the off cuts of MDF, plywood and plasterboard we throw away at work!0

I work for a big diy shed and we not only throw away off cuts but also full sheets that are marked by the strapping on delivery.Pucker up and kiss it Whoville! - The Grinch:kiss:0

No Edna, it wouldn't hook onto the back of the car!
Seriously, we took a few small pieces but thought someone, somewhere might be glad to know where they could get something that might be useful for nothing."Every day when I wake up I thank the Lord I'm Welsh" Cerys Matthews0 -
Hang on - I phrased that a bit wrongly, "useful for nothing" I meant the pieces may be useful to someone and they didn't have to pay for them. Just noticed I got a star - Yippee!"Every day when I wake up I thank the Lord I'm Welsh" Cerys Matthews0

2 more Ikea tips:
1) The free measuring tapes are useful at home for your sewing!
2) The free pencils are great for taking around the golf course and marking your score card!0 -

On a slightly different totally non money saving front, Whilst returning some stuff to Ikea Brent Cross this afternoon I found A load of stuff someone had obviously dropped off their trolley when leaving the store. What did I do ? 1; Hide it under the stuff on my trolley ?
2; Put it in my car and hope nobody noticed ?
3; Leg it with it ?
4; Take it to customer services and say "I just found this outside"
What would you have done ?
Sadly I took it to customer services and said "I've just found this outside" to which the Girl said "oh OK" and she proceeded to chuck it on a pile behind her. I didn't/don't expect a medal but perhaps a little "thanks" would have been nice ! (anyway I'm sure the stuff I found will just be re-sold)
So if you were on till 6 of the returns at Ikea Brent Cross at 15.28 this afternoon....BUCK YOUR IDEAS UP young Lady :rolleyes: (Although your smile was beautiful )Education is compulsory, school is not.
